I finally got around to seeing the Nicolas Cage movie Knowing this week. It was a pretty decent film. It creeped me out a little though. Talk about the world ending usually doesn’t make me happy.
After I finished watching the film I decided to do a little research about the world’s final day. You know, the whole Myans predicting that the world is going to end in 2012, Apophis meteor hitting earth, etc. While thinking that most of what I came across was ridiculous, I also found a great lecture by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. I felt the need to share it with you. His lecture is funny and brings you back to reality. So, check it out below.

06/11/2009 05:24:11PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “-and I was wondering if that includes tethering?”
06/11/2009 05:24:31PM Agent (Shana H): “For account security and verification, may I please have the **********-********** digit PIN number on your account?”
06/11/2009 05:25:19PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “I am under my parents account so I do not know the PIN. I would just like to know if the Blackberry Personal Pack includes tethering.”
06/11/2009 05:26:02PM Agent (Shana H): “I am seeing that you have chatted in/contacted with us recently, however was your issue resloved at the time you chatted in, or was your previouse issue resolved?”
06/11/2009 05:26:37PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “What are you talking about?”
06/11/2009 05:26:50PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “I would just like to know if the Blackberry Personal Pack includes tethering.”
06/11/2009 05:27:34PM Agent (Shana H): “One moment please,”
06/11/2009 05:29:18PM Agent (Shana H): “I apologize however this option is not available,”
06/11/2009 05:30:00PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “So what would I be charged if I did tether my Blackberry with my laptop while having the Blackberry Personal Pack?”
06/11/2009 05:32:28PM Agent (Shana H): “The Blackberry Personal Pack has Internet included in the package and the unlimited message,”
06/11/2009 05:32:58PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “…I know that. Is there an additional charge to tether the Blackberry with my laptop though?”
06/11/2009 05:33:39PM Agent (Shana H): “Yes you will be charged 0.03 per kb,”
06/11/2009 05:34:51PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “Is there a monthly subscription I can add-on to my Blackberry Personal Pack to allow tethering to my laptop?”
06/11/2009 05:37:43PM Agent (Shana H): “I apologize however the package you have on the line of service now includes unlimited web and messaging. The requirements for tethering includes: Nextel Internet-ready phone,”
06/11/2009 05:40:46PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “I understand what the Blackberry Personal Pack includes. Right now I am able to tether my Blackberry to my computer. You said that it would cost $0.03/kb to do that. I am wondering if there is a PAM (Phone-As-Modem) subscription that I can add on top of my Blackberry Personal Pack to allow me to tether without being charged that $0.03/kb?
06/11/2009 05:41:59PM Agent (Shana H): “I apologize however you will need to have a NExtel Ready device in order to tether,”
06/11/2009 05:42:24PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “That’s not true, because I’m tethering my Blackberry to my laptop right this second.”
06/11/2009 05:45:45PM Agent (Shana H): “I apologize however if you would like to tether your device you may be subject to a charge of 0.03 per KB, however if you would like to us phone As modem service, you will have to change your price plan to a talk plan, with the Pro Pack 30.00 add on package along with Phone As Modem add on 15.00,”
06/11/2009 05:46:47PM Kyle Dylan Conner: “Ok, so it is an additional $15.00 to tether. Thank you very much.”
06/11/2009 05:46:52PM Session Ended
I believe that Sprint should just give me the tethering option for free for having to deal with this type of bullshit all of the time. I mean, come on. All of that for one simple answer? This is the second incompetent Sprint employee I’ve dealt with this week.

My review of the film (spoiler review), under the jump.

Yesterday the much anticipated Branchr advertising network launched giving people access to affordable, and effective pay-per-click advertising. The service will appeal to both Advertisers and Publishers, with schemes to help Advertisers publicize their product to it’s full potential and schemes to help Publishers display relevant ads on their website and earn royalties for doing so.
Branchr brings everyone the sexiness and simplicity of the premier ad network, The Deck.
Advertisers can put as low as $5.00 USD into their account to try the service. For advertisers and publishers alike, Branchr offers rich real-time statistics into the performance of advertisements on the network, a service currently not offered by any other pay-per-click internet marketing service.
